Newark, NJ Students win NASA Award

April 28, 2001 -

Students from the Ann Street School in Newark New Jersey won Third Place in NASA's National Student Involvement Program (NSIP) this Spring. Based on research from Spring 2000's Signals of Spring Program, four students contributed the entry in the Watching Earth Change competition for grades 5-8.

Over 3000 students entered several titled competitions. The students will receive medals, but actually donate them to the school, which will proudly display them in the school's trophy case.

Project Director, Glen Schuster, says, "It's an honor to work with such hard working students, willing to put forth their best efforts." The entry was about the migration of the osprey and sandhill crane, and how the habitats, seen in earth imagery have changed over time.
