1st Training for 2004-2005 Season

June 12, 2004 - Middle school teachers from the NASA Explorer School (NES)Program are convening a week-long professional development session, where they will participate in Signals of Spring training for two of five days. At the Kennedy Space Center, veteran NES teachers will either be trained in the bird or marine animal investigations for their classrooms for the upcoming school year. Subsequent to the training, they will learn NSTA's 'Webwatchers' program, to help them facilitate Signals of Spring and other inquiry-based activities at their respective schools.

The NASA Explorer School program is a competitive program where 50 school districts each year infuse NASA and earth data content into various curricular activities. A second group of 50 teams of teachers and administrators are joining the NASA community this summer. During the fall the new teachers will be able to sign-up to participate in Signals of Spring.

Signals of Spring welcomes the new schools as we embark on our 6th season. A special announcement awaits the teachers this week, regarding a new endeavor to coincide with International Migratory Bird Day in May 2005.
